Attorney Profile–Larry Kerman
For nearly 30 years I have helped businesses and individuals fight for their legal rights in employment, business, and commercial matters. Although I have practiced at two mid-sized law firms, I have chosen to practice law on my own to deal directly with clients so they may have the personal attention and dedication they deserve. My highly regarded experience, skill, and knowledge make me the attorney you should turn to when you want results.
While law is my practice, litigation is my passion. With the other law firms that I practiced with I was designated the go-to litigation guy. I have represented individuals and businesses in many areas of litigation. It is with fervor and determination that I regularly oppose even the largest companies and largest law firms on behalf of my clients.
Born, raised, and educated in New York, I understand the clients I represent and have an enormous respect for the Buffalo and entire Western New York area. After graduating cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I received my Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University Of Buffalo School Of Law in 1980, and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1981. I then had the privilege of clerking for the Justices of the Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department for two years, 1980–1982. Having worked for an appellate court, this enabled me to learn what trial and appellate attorneys do right and what they do wrong.
My litigation practice focuses on such areas as:
Some of my major career accomplishments include obtaining a significant settlement in an age and disability discrimination suit in federal court, representing an international corporation in health care reimbursement, products liability and insurance matters, obtaining a very large recovery in a major construction litigation, recovering a significant amount in a wrongful death airline case, and obtaining another very large settlement in an ERISA lawsuit. I also represented the Buffalo Sabres in the well-publicized Richard Martin litigation.
- New York State Bar Association
- American Association for Justice
- New York State Trial Lawyers Association
Before beginning my solo practice, I was partner and chairman of the Litigation Department at Blair & Roach, LLP, 2001–2008, and a partner from 1988–2001 and associate from 1982–1987 at Cohen Swados Wright Hanifin Bradford & Brett, LLP, in which I obtained substantial litigation experience.
I currently hold a BV® Distinguished™ Peer Review RatingSM by Martindale-Hubbell®.
